‘The Man who Wanted to Know Everything’

October-November 2006 Leonardo Da Vinci ‘The man who wanted to know everything’ Creative workshops for schools linked to the Leonardo exhibition.

To mark the H.M. Queen’s 80th birthday, ‘Ten Drawings by Leonardo Da Vinci from The Royal Collection’ were exhibited at Leeds City Art Gallery during September and November 2006. A series of workshops for school children were designed around this exhibition. The aim of these workshops was to enable children to understand the power of drawing as a way of communication, to introduce the ability to ‘read’ / interpret Leonardo’s drawing’s, and to introduce the idea of creative links between art and science. Primary and secondary school children experimented with a range of media while making their own piece of work. Through this enjoyable and stimulating experience children were encouraged to visit their art gallery again and to bring their families with them.
